Pancreas Disease Symptoms
PERSONALABS™ offers blood and urine tests to assist in determining the level of pancreatic function. The pancreas is a small organ responsible for carrying bile from the liver and gall bladder into the small intestine.
The pancreas consists of two kinds of tissues:
Exocrine -- which make powerful enzymes to digest fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.
Endocrine -- which produce the hormones insulin and glucagon and release them into the blood stream.
The primary diseases of the pancreas are pancreatitis, which may be classified as acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis, and cancer of the pancreas.
