How it Works

Use:

This test is used to aid in establishing the presence of Cryptococcus neoformans infection. The cryptococcal antigen test is positive in about 85% to 90% of cryptococcal meningitis.

Its sensitivity reaches 95% in patients with AIDS. Cryptococcus neoformans is most commonly found in bird droppings and dirt.

Recommended For:

Diagnosing cryptococcus infection.
