This test is used to help diagnose and monitor lupus. Anti-dsDNA is one of a group of autoantibodies called antinuclear antibodies. These are produced by ones immune system and fail to distinguish between self” and “nonself” which causes damage.
Individuals who would need to test for possibility of lupus and those who experience the following symptoms: fatigues, weakness, joint pain and rashes on the skin.
No special preparation is necessary prior to blood sample collection.
