The Purpose of an Anticardiolipin Antibodies Blood Test

Anticardiolipin antibodies are autoantibodies that interfere with normal blood clotting. People with abnormal levels of these autoantibodies, which are produced by the immune system, can be at increased risk for stroke, myocardial infarction, venous thrombosis, thromboembolism, thrombocytopenia, and/or recurrent miscarriages. This condition is referred to as antiphospholipid syndrome (APS).

The reference ranges for the antibodies are:

  • IgG and IgM: 0-30 units
  • IgA: 0-19 APS units

If your results are outside of these ranges, you may want to talk with a physician to determine your next steps. We offer telehealth visits with Personalabs board-certified doctors who can make recommendations and offer guidance.
