This test will check if you have adequate levels of Apolipoprotein A-1 and help determine your risk of cardiovascular disease. Apolipoprotein A-1 is the main protein component in high-density lipoproteins (HDL). HDL is responsible for removing excess cholesterol from cells and transporting it to the liver for reuse or disposal.

For this specific test, you are required to fast for 12–14 hours prior to your blood sample collection. During this time, you should not eat or drink anything other than water to ensure the most accurate measurement of your protein levels.
No, this is not a home test kit. To ensure clinical accuracy, you must visit a local Labcorp or Quest Diagnostics facility for a professional blood draw. Once you purchase the test, you will receive a lab requisition form to bring to the location of your choice.

While a standard HDL test measures the amount of cholesterol inside the particles, the Apolipoprotein A-1 test measures the actual protein that drives the “good” cholesterol process.
