This test is used to monitor recent or acute exposure to cadmium.
Cadmium poisoning through industrial exposure to inorganic cadmium fumes may produce fatigue, coughing, chest pain, a burning sensation in the throat, and renal damage. The prognosis of persons with cadmium-induced renal dysfunction is unfavorable, with urinary-microglobulin and urinary protein the most important factors.
Toxicity from inhaling fumes might cause pulmonary edema, lung inflammation. Chronic exposure might cause early hypertension, atherosclerosis and kidney disease.
Detecting toxicity due to exposure at work/accidental exposure.
No special preparation is necessary prior to blood sample collection.
